In the first half of 2012, the slaughter of the pig sector had an increase of 2.7% over the same period of 2011 and domestic consumption have shown a cumulative annual decline of 10.7% from a year earlier. In per capita terms in the first half of 2012, consumption of pig was 7.4 kg per capita, with a decline of 12.1%. In terms of foreign trade, imports of pork products fell 63.8% important in the first half compared to the same period of 2011, following the import barriers, while volumes were down 65.4%; meanwhile exports fell 3.7% and 18.2% respectively.
